Overnight Summer Camp
Stay tuned for 2019 dates!
Available to students who have participated in the Yuckert Ranch Summer Camp Level 1 Day Camp course.
Campers will have the option of bringing their own horse or using one of the ranch horses throughout the week. They will learn everything about horse care including the basic grooming, saddling, and some horse psychology!
Each camper will take a riding lesson in the morning or afternoon. Other camp activities include arts and crafts, showmanship lessons, and games. Each camper will come back together in the afternoon to prepare their horse to be turned out to pasture. They will learn the parts, colors, markings, and different breeds of horses.
There will be instruction in show grooming, braiding, and horse leading techniques. Campers will also learn how to tie-up a horse, tack up a horse, arena etiquette and how to control a horse on command while riding.
On the last day of the camp, we will host a mini show/playday so our campers get a chance to show their new riding skills to their friends and family!
What to Bring:
Equipment Required:
· Protective Headgear (bike helmet okay)
· Smooth- soled riding boots or hiking boots with a heel
· Rain gear with hood incase of bad weather
· Jeans or riding pants
· Sleeping bag
· All overnight necessities
Other Items to Bring:
· Warm gloves for cold rainy days
· Complete change of clothes to keep at camp
· Sack lunch every day (labeled with campers name)
· Carrots and apples for your horse (optional)
Since Yuckert Ranch is a learn-by-doing camp, we do things no matter what the weather is doing! Be sure to wear clothes that can get dirty and will not hold you back from participating in the fun! We ride every day regardless of weather. If rain is in the forecast, be sure to bring and raincoat and gloves. Each camper will have their own place to keep their gear.
